Keynote & After-Dinner Speaking
Everyone has AI. Almost nobody has the advantage.
Why the quality of your questions, not the quality of your tools, determines what this technology does for you.
Phil Carey brings forty years of storytelling to stages. This talk draws on The Curiosity Advantage and a body of research that most leaders have not seen. It does not debate AI. It does not predict the future. It gives the room a different way of thinking about the present, and something specific to do with it.

Everyone Has AI. Almost Nobody Has the Advantage.
Salvador Dali sat in a stiff chair every afternoon, holding a metal key over an upside-down plate on the floor. As he drifted toward sleep and his grip loosened, the key would drop and the clang would snap him awake, often with sudden clarity on a problem he had been wrestling with. This was not procrastination. It was technique. The question this talk asks is: what is your equivalent of the key and the plate?
What the talk covers
- Why the people getting the most from AI are not the most technically capable, they are the most curious
- The difference between using AI as a vending machine and using it as a thinking partner, and why it matters
- What the research says about cognitive performance, team health, and sustainable AI adoption
- The practical, counterintuitive strategies that high-performing teams are actually using
- How to leave more room for the thinking that AI cannot do for you
